School Leaders Involved in Drinking and Drug Education (SLIDDE)
School Leaders Involved in Drinking & Drug Education (SLIDDE) was developed to provide educational information and programs for alcohol and all drugs on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus. The SLIDDE Committee is the combined effort of several departments within Student Affairs and is geared toward prevention of underage drinking and substance abuse on our campus and the surrounding community. Our organization also works with the drug and alcohol taskforces at Universities statewide in an effort to organize our strategies.
Each year our committee implements activities to promote awareness, education, and prevention of drug and alcohol use based on the results of our annual CORE Drug and Alcohol Survey. Perhaps you have already taken part in some of these activities. Remember the Fatal Vision goggles at Lagniappe Day? What about the Mocktails for Up Til Dawn? SLIDDE made these activities possible! Our organization also places a wrecked car on campus, around the holidays, that was involved in a drinking and driving related accident to bring awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence. SLIDDE also hosts an annual 5k run, usually at the end of the Spring semester, to raise funds to continually offer these activities to our UL Lafayette community and raise awareness amongst our community in regards to substance abuse.
Get Involved!! We welcome all students to take part in our organization. If you are interested in being a part of SLIDDE, please contact Kristy Fusilier at 337-482-6480, or stop by the Counseling & Testing Department located within the Saucier Wellness Center, OK Allen Hall.
